The National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities (NACDD) is the national association for the 56 Councils on Developmental Disabilities (DD Councils) across the United States and its territories.  The DD Councils receive federal funding to support programs that promote self-determination, integration, and inclusion for all people in the United States with developmental disabilities.

The SARTAC page is a resource for organizing and supporting self-advocacy groups. 

The American Network of Community Options and Resources (ANCOR) is a national, nonprofit trade association representing more than 1,600 private community providers of services to people with disabilities. Combined, we support over one million individuals with disabilities, and work to shape policy, share solutions and strengthen community.  

NADD was founded by Dr. Robert J Fletcher in 1983 in response to the growing need for a forum to educate the professional community regarding the realities and unique needs of those with dual diagnoses and to address the absence of  research, information, and access to effective services for people experiencing co-occurring intellectual/developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs.

The Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) is a membership organization that supports and promotes a national network of university-based interdisciplinary programs. 

These programs serve and are located in every U.S. state and territory and are all part of universities or medical centers. They serve as a bridge between the university and the community, bringing together the resources of both to achieve meaningful change.

JAN's Searchable Online Accommodation Resource (SOAR) system is designed to let users explore various accommodation options for people with disabilities in work and educational settings. These accommodation ideas are not all inclusive. If you do not find answers to your questions, please contact JAN directly. he National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) is a national non-profit whose mission is to elevate the status of direct support professionals by improving practice standards; promoting system reform; and advancing their knowledge, skills and values. Our vision is a world with a highly qualified and professional direct support workforce that partners with, supports and empowers people with disabilities to lead a life of their choosing. 

Civitan International is an organization of volunteer service clubs around the world, dedicated to helping people in their own communities. Civitans help wherever the need arises – from collecting food for a homeless shelter, to volunteering at their local retirement home, to building a playground for children with disabilities. Civitans have been helping people since the organization’s founding in 1917, by a group of businessmen determined to make a difference in their community. 

 Self Advocates Becoming Empowered (SABE) is the United State’s national self-advocacy organization.  SABE's Mission is to ensure that people with disabilities are treated as equals and that they are given the same decisions, choices, rights, responsibilities, and chances to speak up to empower themselves; opportunities to make new friends, and to learn from their mistakes.  


AARP is the nation’s largest nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to empowering people 50 and older to choose how they live as they age. They have many programs and up-to-date information surrounding health security, financial stability and personal fulfillment





NDRN is the nonprofit, voluntary membership association for the P&A and CAP agencies. Collectively, the network is the largest provider of legally based advocacy services to people with disabilities in the United States.

The ABLE National Resource Center (ANRC) is a collaborative whose supporters share the goal of accelerating the design and availability of ABLE accounts for the benefit of individuals with disabilities and their families. We bring together the investment, support and resources of the country’s largest and most influential national disability organizations.

The Association for People Supporting Employment First, to facilitate the full inclusion of people with disabilities in the workplace and community.


Our mission is to help the elderly and their families fully understand the cost of long term care and the programs in your community that can provide much needed financial support. We have an online database of tools and resources that cover topics like available care options and free support that is available. 

The Administration for Community Living was created around the fundamental principle that older adults and people of all ages with disabilities should be able to live where they choose, with the people they choose, and with the ability to participate fully in their communities.

The mission of the National Autism Association is to respond to the most urgent needs of the autism community, providing real help and hope so that all affected can reach their full potential.
